Warehousing and Distribution is one of the main departments of Emirates Flight Catering, playing a vital role in supply chain management. The ethos of the department is to receive and deliver goods on a ‘Just in Time’ (JIT) basis, with quality as a prime concern. The department has 435 dedicated personnel, and a wealth of airline catering experience.
The department functions on established and tested policies and procedures with a multi-directional work flow. Continuous improvement and linear integration is part of our culture to achieve the desired results. The ‘demand-pulled supply chain’ is managed both as a science and an art to match the dynamic requirements of our internal and external customers.
There are four main facets of the Supply Chain department:
1. FOOD STORE
There are food stores located at the catering facility at Dubai International Airport, which services all user departments and customers, and another off-site store at Al Aweer functioning as a feeder store for thr catering facility. We handle more than 3000 line items sourced from across the globe, scientifically managed and delivered on demand. In both areas, we have ambient dry stores, chillers and freezers. Our food store ensures that all perishables, temperature sensitive items, raw materials, culinary ingredients, ready to eat products and food packing materials are hygienically handled to the highest standards from receipt till delivery. The store complies with all international requirements such as HACCP and ISO 9000.
2. AIRLINES STORE
The airline store manages all equipment and materials of an ever-increasing number of airline customers. This store currently manages more than 8000 line items of customer-specific products. Online stock management, fault free bonded set replenishment and electronically controlled duty-free operations are some of the specialties of this store. The airline store has a skillfully managed flight packing operation for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, provisions, medical kits, route-specific duty free items, information materials like menu cards and wine lists, cabin dressing materials, passenger comforts, dailies and periodicals, activity kits, amusement items for children, baby kits, lunch boxes and other amenities. All our airline customers enjoy fast airside to landside shipment clearing. Our airline stores staff ensure that equipment is replenished on the flight operations shelves within 8 hours of flight arrival. Ad-hoc orders are handled in the shortest possible time, and a dedicated team efficiently handles galley-to-galley service of dailies and periodicals, newspapers and magazines that are sector specific and from more than 80 countries across the globe.

3. MAINTENANCE STORE
The maintenance store manages spare parts and engineering required to keep our facilities in functional condition and also assist in managing the preventive maintenance schedule to ensure the minimum possible downtime.
4. EVENT STORE
All special items of Food and Beverage equipment needed for the Event Catering Division are stored here, for events such as the Dubai International Aerospace Exhibition, Dubai Rugby Sevens, ATP Tennis Tournaments and International music concerts.
