At EKFC, the Engineering Department plays a key role in providing a wide range of services that ensure the smooth operation of the whole catering unit, Company stores, accommodation camps and DIA lounges. The Department is equipped with a team of core technical professionals who provide efficient technical and maintenance support to all departments around the clock.

EKFC ’s Quality Policy and Quality System are established in accordance with ISO 9001: 2000 International Standards and are adapted in the entire Departmental activities for quality delivery of work. The Department is already fully involved in the new EK-dedicated airline catering facility. It is a fully automated environment and is first of its kind in the World in terms of technology excellence and capacity.

Broadly, the roll of the Department can be described by the following activities:

I. NEW PROJECTS

  • Plan, direct and control all the engineering functions related to new projects - from conceptualization, tendering, evaluating and awarding until successful testing and commissioning.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and budgets in coordination with the Finance Department and arrange for initial designs, specifications in consultation with the related Departments for all the engineering projects related to any expansion plans.
  • Prepare all tender documents (drawings, conditions of the contracts, quantities and specifications), select contractors and consultants, prepare comparison study of offers received and present these to Management for final selection and approval.
  • Supervising the progress of ongoing projects (landscaping, construction & interior decoration) and coordination with contractors & consultants to ensure that projects are being executed as per the terms and Conditions of the tender documents.
  • Ensure on-time completion of all projects within the pre-determined budgets as per agreement terms, conditions and specifications.

II. FACILITY MANAGEMENT

  • Maintenance of the Company’s facilities and equipment; purchasing of new equipment & parts to ensure proper functioning of all plant & equipment.
  • Ensure that the Company’s equipment and property are being maintained properly without any major interruption to business operations.
  • Enhance safety at all Company premises.
Coordinate closely with various governmental departments: DEWA, DCA, Dubai Municipality and consultancies.
